Locals Art Space is an Asbury Park NJ based membership driven non-profit organization comprised of fine artists from all over New Jersey.
Our organization supports local artists through exhibitions, assisting in public art, workshops, classes and artist collaborations.
The gallery hosts handmade original art and prints.
We offer a unique space for exhibitions, solo shows, classes, workshops, and special events.

Our Local Art Community
Locals Art Space was established in 2019. As a non-profit organization we rely on the support of our Members, Donors, Sponsors, and Volunteers throughout the year. We sustain and enrich ourselves with support from our neighborhoods and in collaboration with other art-loving organizations.

We are proud to call the city of Asbury Park our home base. While our physical location may be petite, our community is expansive, inclusive, and comprised of a diverse collective of artists from all over New Jersey.
Many members of our community are also members of kindred organizations such as the Art Alliance of Monmouth County, the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury, Monmonth Arts, the Jersey Shore Arts Center, and the Belmar Arts Center which increases our engagement and visibility in the arts.

Our Intention
Since our founding in 2019, by Patricia F. Arroyo, Locals Art Space has evolved into a diverse group of over 70 Members representing numerous artistic disciplines. We are an approachable organization for all things artistic and holistic, including sculpture, painting, drawing, fiber, photography, collage, and digital art. New Members are always welcome.

Mission
To promote the advancement of the visual arts, and provide exhibition, studio, and classroom space for local artists.

Goals
To offer stimulating, unique, thought-provoking exhibitions; to provide a social setting for artists and their friends to meet, discuss, and exchange ideas about art.

Artistic Philosophy
We believe that art is valuable and necessary to the cultural life of any community; that people need a place to gather and work together; that skillful artists can learn from novices as well as the other way around; that everyone has something valuable to offer; that seeing one's work displayed for public consumption is an empowering experience; that one's greatest capacity is the ability to be creative; that making art is a way of defining who you are.

Organization
We believe in transparency, diversity, and inclusion. The role of our Council is to oversee the management, services, and gallery for Locals Art Space. All Officers are Members elected by other Locals Art Space Members for a two-year term.
